William and Mary Guaranteed Admission Agreement
The college has specific agreements with certain colleges and universities to help our students. The Virginia Community College System also works diligently on behalf of all students attending one of Virginia`s 23 community colleges, including STC students. Detailed information about the agreement can be found under the links below. William & Mary is a small liberal arts research college in Williamsburg, Virginia, with nationally ranked bachelor`s, graduate, professional and online programs covering arts and sciences and four schools. In addition to guaranteed admission agreements, TCC has specific transfer agreements with W&M that benefit our students. See the links below for detailed information! If you have not yet completed the Associate Degree, we look forward to receiving your application, but admission to W&M is not guaranteed. You need to have good grades in rigorous courses to be competitive. You should carefully plan your college courses with Richard Bland College course equivalencies [pdf] to maximize the course credits that can be transferred to William & Mary. You may be able to upgrade to W&M if some of your COLL and performance requirements are also met. We recommend that you have completed your language and math skills before joining W&M. Your academic results will be officially assessed by the University Registrar after admission. This Agreement will be reviewed every three years, but will remain in effect until terminated by either party upon written notice to the other party.
Such notification must be made at least sixty days before the anniversary of the signature. Students who have entered into under the agreement may avail themselves of its terms and conditions for two years after the termination takes effect. The “Course Equivalents” document on the W&M Admissions (www.wm.edu/admission/transfer) website, which also addresses general training requirements at W&M, is updated when the W&M program is modified and the courses in the VCCS Master`s course file are added or removed without a new GAA being executed. Guaranteed admission agreements guarantee your admission to more than 40 virginia colleges and universities if you meet the requirements of the agreement. Just take the required courses, get the grades, complete the transfer process – and you`re there! If you have not completed your associate studies, admission to W&M is not guaranteed. To be a competitive candidate, you must have a well-balanced program of study and a cumulative GPA of about 3.6 in VCCS. You must carefully plan your college courses with VCCS course equivalencies [pdf] and our Pathway guides to maximize the course points that can be transferred to W&M. Even if you meet all the guaranteed admission requirements and are co-enrolled, you must complete the application at W&M. Students admitted to W&M as candidates under the terms of this Agreement will pay tuition fees At W&M. Students who apply for tuition privileges in Virginia apply for them when they apply for admission to W&M.
The Office of Financial Aid considers transfer students in the same category as returning students who are first responders at W&M. In keeping with its institutional mission as a highly selective public college, the College of William and Mary (W&M) is entering into this Guaranteed Admission Agreement (GAA) with the colleges of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) in order to achieve the goal of improving access for community college students. This agreement supersedes all prior guaranteed approval agreements between W&M and VCCS. William & Mary welcomes applications from students from the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). W&M encourages students to participate in the Guaranteed Admission Agreement (GAA) that W&M has with the VCCS. VCCS students who pursue a transfer-oriented associate degree with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.6, with grades below a C in all transferable courses, a B or better in courses that meet the College Program (COLL) field and competency courses, and who have achieved at least 45 credit hours of the total performance required for the Transfer-Focused Associate Diploma in A VCCS institution after graduating from high school, admission to W&M is guaranteed. Please note that admission to W&M`s Mason School of Business is NOT guaranteed by the GAA. Yes, on-campus accommodation is guaranteed for all applicants for admission to the spring semester. An application for accommodation is completed by students who complete this program in December. William & Mary will provide first-year students with a waiting list with a guaranteed path to admission next spring if they meet the requirements listed below while completing a full-time semester in an accredited community or junior college, including but not limited to Richard Bland College or a Virginia Community College. Even if you meet all the requirements for an admission guarantee, you must complete the application at W&M.
We are aware that some students may not meet the requirements set out in the Guaranteed Admission Agreement [pdf]. You can still be considered for admission – follow the standard application process for transfer students. Students who move from a two-year school with an associate degree and a cumulative GPA above 3.5 are usually competitive applicants. The guaranteed admission agreement between William & Mary and all VCCS schools guarantees the admission of students who meet certain requirements. As a NOVA graduate, you are guaranteed admission to more than 40 colleges and universities in the region if you meet the requirements of the agreement between NOVA and this university. The VCCS transcript is revised from course to course, and for courses listed on the “Course Equivalents” document on the W&M Admissions website (www.wm.edu/admission/transfer) as equivalent to W&M`s, specific credit will be awarded if the student has achieved a grade of “C” (2.0) or higher. If it is necessary to reach the junior ranking, additional election points will be awarded. There are two ways to guarantee admission to W&M for Richard Bland students.
Students interested in admission to GAA must sign and submit a “Letter of Intent to Transfer to W&M” at the end of at least 15 credit hours of post-secondary courses with at least 3.4 GPA at a VCCS institution (not via transfer credits) and at least one year prior to the desired enrollment date with W&M. This allows students currently enrolled on these campuses to take courses at William & M. Mary while pursuing their associate degree and working towards the completion of the guaranteed admission agreement. Questions regarding the co-registration agreement, including how to become a co-signed student, should be directed to the contact person at each school that is part of the agreement. William & Mary has co-enrollment agreements with these schools: VCCS equivalent courses that meet these requirements are listed in the “Course Equivalents” document on the W&M Admissions (www.wm.edu/admission/transfer) website in the “COLL” column header of the college curriculum. Students are bound by the requirements that apply at the time of submission of the LETTER of Intent. Other general W&M training requirements are set forth in Section IV of this Agreement. Students at VCCS institutions will receive guaranteed admission as candidates to W&M under this GAA if they meet all of the following requirements: William & Mary has separate guaranteed admission and a bridging program agreement with RBC. VCCS courses can be used to meet important requirements if they have W&M equivalents, as outlined in the Course Equivalents document on the W&M Admissions website (www.wm.edu/admission/transfer). Courses that receive academic credits but are called “elective” cannot be used to meet the most important requirements. The program gives you the opportunity to save thousands of tuition fees.
We recommend that you meet with a transfer consultant at your NOVA campus to help you follow the process. Note that the college curriculum also includes two upper division requirements, COLL 300 (Worldwide) and COLL 400 (Capstone). .
